You know Canada’s airports as places that connect you from one destination to another, but there’s more to our story than that.

Here, we’ll show you what Canada’s airports are doing to incorporate greener practices, innovate new technology, support local communities, and make the traveller experience that much better.

Canada’s Airports serve passengers in every corner of our country. As an association of over 100 member airports, we handle virtually all of the nation’s air cargo and international passenger traffic and 90% of domestic passenger travel.

Officially known as the Canadian Airports Council (CAC), our association was formed in 1992, when the federal government changed the governance structure for airports in Canada to allow for more local control. During this time, CAC established itself as a reliable representative for airports on a wide range of significant issues and concerns.

Locally operated to serve Canadians better

Canada’s airports are locally managed authorities, with the ability to make decisions that benefit travellers and their communities.  Since 1992,  our airports, led by community-based boards,  have invested over $27 billion into capital improvement programs that meet growing demand and provide a safe, comfortable and respectful journey for travellers. The results speak for themselves: together, Canada’s airports have reinvested over $27 billion into capital improvement programs since their management was made local in 1992, and Canada has been recognised as having the world’s best airport infrastructure by the World Economic Forum.

This site is home to the “Wonder Takes Flight” campaign, launched by the Canadian Airports Council (CAC) in February of 2019 to help Canadians rediscover their sense of wonder and fascination with Canada’s airports.
